Like all pipes of the milking machine, the wash pipes should have minimal length and curves, ensuring a minimum quantity of water needed at each milking point and at the receiver/ vessel-sanitary trap set. Use of stainless steel pipes and fittings is recommended since the cost involved is easily recovered compared to other systems.
The water can enter through the upper or lower part of the milking system, up to the height of the vacuum network. If there are many milking points, it is best to run the water pipe to the centre of the parlour and then branch it towards the sides.
The washing platforms should allow easy connection and disconnection of the claw to the wash pipes, but their placement should not be in the way of the cow or the milker (the folding platforms, which also keep the support between washers clean, are very interesting).
